Dr. Tien's training in psychotherapy has been at Harvard, Columbia & the City University of New York. During his internship at Bellevue Hospital from 1985 to 1986 he became a student of zazen ~ or "sitting mind" ~ at the New York Zendo. After receiving a doctorate in clinical psychology Dr. Tien completed psychoanalytic training ~ undertaking a Jungian analysis ~ through the postdoctoral program of New York University. Presently, Dr. Tien works in Ithaca, New York where he has been licensed to practice since 1988.
